WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

God Is Holy

God is the all-powerful being that created everything. He is loving, just, powerful, and good. In other words, God is holy, or "set apart." Everything that God made was good. The only exception were people. People weren't good, they were "very good." God created people to have a special, close relationship with Him unlike any other created thing.

We are not

Although people were created very good, the first humans that God created chose to disobey God. They sinned against Him, which means that they fell short of His holy standard. Now, all humans are born with a sinful nature. Every human who has ever lived (but one) has sinned. This sin immediately ruined the relationship between God and man.

The Consequence

This sin is a major issue. God is a Holy God, and because of that He cannot be in the presence of sin. Our sin has caused us to be deserving of punishment in Hell, which is a place of everlasting torement and seperation from God. Nothing that anyone does can make up for their sin. The payment that is needed to cover our sin is the shedding of blood, not our actions.

The hope

Although God is completely right to punish us for our sin, He loves us so much that He provided a way to restore our broken relationship and live with Him forever rather than face punishment in Hell. About 2,000 years ago He sent His Son Jesus, the only human to never sin, as our salvation. As a sinless man, Jesus was killed by crucifixion to pay for our sin. Then He came back to life three days later to prove that the sacrifice worked!

Now anyone who places their faith in Jesus's sacrifice as their only way to be saved will have their relationship with God restored and be saved from eternal punishment.

"For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Romans 10:9

All of the above is very important but it is just the beginning. We hope that if you take the step of faith described above, you will choose to follow Jesus Christ. In our meetings we hope to teach you what that means. Here is more information on what we believe.

The Rest of What We Believe

We don't require students to believe these to come to CF, but this is what our staff believes and what we will wholeheartedly teach them

  • We believe the Bible is the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.

  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return to power and glory.

  • We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
